Tyra Dixon

Tyra Dixon is a writer, editor, producer, director, photographer, videographer and founder of T. Dixon Media, LLC.

Tyra’s career began as a broadcast news editor where she worked for various national affiliates before eventually segueing into filmmaking and photography. Some of her projects and photographic work have been featured in regional advertisements and on billboards throughout the state.

Over the course of her career, Tyra has worked for various media outlets and assisted on television and film projects in Los Angeles, South Africa, and in her home state of North Carolina. In 2023, she joined the Hayti Heritage Film Festival as co-director alongside former festival director Lana Garland. Tyra now serves as director of HHFF, the long-running, southern black film festival which takes place each spring.

When she’s not creating, Tyra enjoys traveling and being a dog mom to Weezy, her beloved French bulldog.
