Join us on Zoom for a conversation with Deborah Madison, the author of 14 cookbooks and winner of three James Beard awards for her work. Her latest book, a food memoir called An Onion in My Pocket: My Life with Vegetables, details her young life in Davis, California, her career as a chef, the debate concerning vegetarianism, other people cooking her food, deep nourishment, and much, much more.

Madison was the founding chef of Greens restaurant in San Francisco and a student at the San Francisco Zen Center for about 20 years. She is a food activist involved in promoting farmers markets, seed preservation, and the Slow Food movement. She has lived in New Mexico for the past 30 years with her husband, painter Patrick McFarlin, and her dog Dante.
