Marc Lapointe

Marc Lapointe started his New York City Department of Education career in 2005 as a Special Education teacher in the Bronx supporting students on the Autism spectrum as they transitioned to adulthood. When he learned that his first class would have only six students, Lapointe figured he could handle it. Later that day, he discovered just how much he needed to learn. In 2009, he took a position at PACE High School in Chinatown, Manhattan, where he was an integrative co-teacher, team and department leader, instructional coach, athletic director, basketball and soccer coach (he takes little to no credit for his team winning three league titles in the small 7 on 7 league, but enjoys bragging about them anyway). Lapointe is now an Educational Administrator and a member of the NYC Department of Education’s Civics for All Team. In this role, he supports city schools with instructional practice in Civics and Social Studies. He tweets @civicsrhizome.
