Jeffrey N. Gerson

Jeffrey N. Gerson is associate professor of Political Science at the University of Massachusetts Lowell. He teaches several sports-related courses, including Introduction to Politics and Sports, Politics of College Sports, and Business of Sports. His most recent areas of research include women’s ice hockey and soccer, the declining number of women coaches in college athletics, and media coverage of the concussion crisis in sports. In addition to writing an oral history of the U.S. soccer women’s fight for gender equity, he is examining the U.S. ice hockey women’s 2017 successful threatened boycott of the ice hockey World Championships.
