Natu Camara

In the late nineties, Natu Camara led West Africa’s first all-female hip-hop group, The Ideal Black Girls. Now she has returned to the world stage, presenting her first solo album: Dimedi (“Child”). Recorded in Mali with the legendary Salif Keita’s band, Dimedi has already been hailed as a powerful masterpiece of Afro-rock, pop, and soul. Once called “the Tina Turner of Guinea,” the beloved hip-hop queen has transformed before our eyes into a singer and songwriter of rousing strength and significance.
