Matt Eisenbrandt
Matt Eisenbrandt is a former Legal Director for the Center for Justice & Accountability (CJA), where he was a member of the trial team that brought Óscar Romero’s assassination to court. The California lawsuit against former Air Force captain Álvaro Saravia for his role in the murder of Archbishop Romero is the subject of Assassination of a Saint. While at CJA, Matt was also involved in a federal trial in Tennessee against Nicolás Carranza resulting in a jury verdict finding Carranza liable for crimes against humanity in El Salvador. Matt also participated in successful trials against military commanders from Haiti and Honduras.
Now based in Canada, Matt is a special consultant to Camp Fiorante Matthews Mogerman LLP on the law firm’s business and human rights cases, including two lawsuits against Canadian mining companies for alleged abuses connected to their overseas operations. He is also a special advisor to the Canadian Centre for International Justice (CCIJ), where he previously served as Legal Director.
