Giovanna Meek

Giovanna Meek has served in many leadership positions: as a military officer, arts entrepreneur, counterterrorism consultant, business operations manager, founder of a 501(c)3, competitive sailing captain, ordained clergy, mother, and wife. Issues around leadership have been a live discussion for Giovanna, even before she attended the US Naval Academy, where leadership classes are mandatory and students are graded on their leadership skills. But, from her point of view, “leadership” more appropriately pertains to an ethos and a way of life, regardless of the job, title, or role. Giovanna has had to deal with the multivalenced challenges of being a woman in predominantly male work environments, living in combat zones as a civilian, and working across cultures and languages.
