Florence Dore

Florence Dore is professor of English at UNC Chapel Hill and a scholar of American literature. She is the author of three scholarly books and is currently writing a fourth entitled Close-Reading and Civil Discourse: Why Democracy Needs Literary Study. Dore has created and led numerous “public square” projects, and—an independent musician as well—she has put out two albums with a third on the way in 2026.
