Ebru Nihan Celkan

Ebru Nihan Celkan is the founder of BuluTiyatro, a text-driven theater company in Istanbul, and the author of more than nine plays, which have been widely performed in Turkey, two having been included in the repertoire of State and City theaters. She is one of four international playwrights invited by the Maxim Gorki theater in Berlin and the Robert Bosch Foundation, among other co-sponsors, to participate in the War in Peace Project, in which an ongoing group discussion leads to the composition of new dramatic works.

Celkan is a human-rights activist who writes for the Evrensel Sunday supplement on such issues. Her play on assassination cells in Turkey, Triggerman (based in part on the death of the Armenian journalist, Hrant Dink), will be included in an anthology of Turkish drama to be published by Laertes of Chapel Hill.
