Casey Parker
Casey Parker is a North Carolina native who grew up in Apex. She has lived in Durham for almost 13 years. She says, “I am mixed race – Japanese and White – through which my life experience has evolved over the years and has shaped who I am today.” She was a public high school Spanish teacher for 13 years, 6 of which were spent at Durham School of the Arts where she met Amber Santibañez and became a co-director of the Fall Art Festival. In 2022 she decided to leave teaching to pursue her Master’s degree in Spanish Linguistics at NC State University full time. However, she has remained a co-director of the Fall Art Festival and has been working as a substitute teacher for Durham Public Schools part time. Her values include community, connection, nature, reciprocity, compassion and learning. She enjoys spending time with her partner, her two dogs, and her family, crocheting, reading, gardening, and hiking.
