Kevin Pérez

Kevin Pérez is a nationally certified American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreter. He was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, and also lived in the Dominican Republic for a time. As a young boy growing up in NYC, unbeknownst to him, he was being groomed to be an interpreter. From a very young age, he interpreted English to Spanish for family members, friends, and adults in the community as well. His interest in ASL was piqued at age 16, when a good friend introduced him to the language, and from that moment forward he has been in love with the language, the culture, and the people. Kevin has worked not only as a spoken language interpreter English to Spanish, but also as an ASL interpreter in a variety of settings such as legal, educational, mental health, and medical domains.

Kevin also works as a Trilingual Interpreter in a Video Relay Setting (VRS), as well as a freelance Trilingual interpreter in the community. He derives his greatest satisfaction from helping those with Minimal Language Skills (MLS). Many individuals come to the United States from countries with no formal sign language systems, so helping them understand the provider is a blessing. Kevin continues to pursue opportunities to enhance his abilities and skills to be an advocate and a voice for those who have limited access.
