Helen Shears
Helen Shears is a graduate student in the History Department at Duke University. She studies imperial expansion in the early modern period through the lens of diplomacy and law. In addition to her research, she also enjoys creative writing and thinking about the relationship between history and narrative. She received her MA degree in the Social Sciences from the University of Chicago and undergraduate degrees in History and French from the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, WA.
