Courtney Woods

Courtney Woods is Assistant Professor in the Department of Environmental Sciences and Engineering at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Dr. Woods is an environmental health scientist with broad interests in understanding how social, economic and political factors intersect to influence exposure to environmental hazards. Her previous work has been in partnership with predominantly black communities in rural settings in the southeastern United States and northeastern Brazil. Woods has employed participatory environmental monitoring and photography to investigate the impacts of industrial activity on neighboring communities.
