Chase Iron Eyes

Chase Iron Eyes is a Native American activist, attorney, and an enrolled member of the Oglala Lakota and Standing Rock Sioux Tribes. He is a co-director and lead counsel of the Lakota People’s Law Project as well as a co-founder of the Native American news website Last Real Indians. Chase stood on the front lines of the fight against the Dakota Access pipeline (DAPL) where he was targeted by law enforcement and arrested. For his role in documenting a peaceful protest, Iron Eyes faced a possible ten years in federal prison, so he knows first-hand what it’s like to be the subject of a political prosecution. A producer and host of the podcast CUT TO THE CHASE, Iron Eyes has appeared on CNN’s United Shades of America as well as VICE News. He holds bachelor’s degrees in political science and American Indian studies from the University of North Dakota, and a Juris Doctor of Law degree with an emphasis in Federal Indian Law from the University of Denver’s Sturm College of Law. LAND OF THE FREE* is his first documentary and collaboration with Rory Owen Delaney and Andrew Fuller.
