Launch Party and Panel Discussion

On October 18, 2013, the Forum for Scholars and Publics hosted Open Access/ Open House, a launch party and panel discussion. The discussion explored the ways in which calls for open access to academic journals and other scholarly publications, along with the rapid rise of MOOCs, are reshaping our understanding of the university within the broader world. Opening remarks were delivered by Laurie Patton, Dean of Arts and Sciences. The panel featured Paolo Mangiafico, Duke Libraries; Ken Wissoker, Duke University Press; Cathy Davidson, HASTAC/CUNY; and Mohamed Noor, Duke Biology. The discussion was moderated by Mark Anthony Neal, Duke AAAS.
