Community & Scholars- Sally Nuamah with Laura Edwards

Sally Nuamah with Laura Edwards

Community & Scholars Speaker Series

The Regulator welcomes award-winning scholar-activist and Duke professor Sally Nuamah, author of How Girls Achieve, as part of its Community & Scholars series. Dr. Nuamah will be joined in conversation by scholar, activist, and filmmaker Laura Edwards. This event is co-sponsored by Duke’s Forum for Scholars and Publics. Through the lives of students at three very different schools, How Girls Achieve makes the case for “feminist schools” that orient girls toward a lifetime of achievement. Drawing on her deep immersion in classrooms in the United States, Ghana, and South Africa, Nuamah calls for a new approach: creating feminist schools that will actively teach girls how and when to challenge society’s norms, and allow them to carve out their own paths to success.

Free and open to the public. The Community & Scholars Speaker Series is co-sponsored by the Regulator Bookshop and the Forum for Scholars and Publics.
