Contemporary Conversations in Christianity: Christianity and Whiteness

with Khyati Y. Joshi and Elizabeth Schrader Polczer

Join us on Wednesday, February 15, at 4:00 p.m. in the Holsti-Anderson Family Assembly Room as we welcome Khyati Y. Joshi,  for a conversation about Christianity and whiteness.

Dr. Joshi is a public intellectual whose social science research and community connections inform policy-makers, educators, and everyday people about race, religion, and immigration in 21st century America. Her most recent book is White Christian Privilege: The Illusion of Religious Equality in America (NYU Press, 2020).

Dr. Joshi will be in conversation with Elizabeth Schrader Polczer, doctoral candidate in Religious Studies at Duke and the 2022-23 Anne Firor Scott Public Scholarship Fellow. This is the third in Polczer's four-part series, "Contemporary Conversations in Christianity."

A light reception will follow this conversation, and copies of Dr. Joshi's most recent book will be available for purchase.

Free and open to the public. Support for this event comes from the Forum for Scholars and Publics, with additional assistance from the Office of Student Affairs, the Graduate Program in Religion, Duke Chapel, the Graduate School, and the John Hope Franklin Institute at Duke University.

This is an in-person only event. We encourage attendees to wear masks in order to keep our community safe.

Update 2/15 7:00 am: registration for parking is now closed. There are several visitor lots on campus, and on this beautiful day, if you're able, the walk from Duke Gardens is very pleasant and takes approximately 15 minutes.
