Maverick alto saxophonist Steve Coleman joins Mark Anthony Neal (Chair, African and African American Studies) for a wide-ranging discussion touching on his career, influences, and influential approach to creation and composition, known as “M-Base.” Coleman will perform with his celebrated jazz octet, Natal Eclipse, on the evening of Friday, November 2, at Duke’s Baldwin Auditorium.
